IDES OF GEMINI Issue Tour Wrap-up; Exclusive Video Interview Courtesy Of Scion AV Available

West Coast transcendentalists, IDES OF GEMINI, recently returned from a near month-long run of European dates in support of their monumental Constantinople full-length released via Neurot Recordings earlier this year.

Relays guitarist/backing vocalist J. Bennett of the journey: “After a month of playing the various clubs, halls, pubs, squats and glorified toilets of Europe, we’re back. I think it’s safe to say that IDES OF GEMINI will never be the same. And neither will Europe, for that matter. We did something to the place, and it did something to us. There was an exchange of energy and fluids. Not with all of Europe, obviously. Just the countries we visited: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, England and the Czech Republic. Am I forgetting someplace? I hope not. I mean, how could I? The audiences were fantastic. The bands we played with were ace. The food and drink were spectacular. Even the border police were sort of cordial while they rifled through our personal belongings. We’d like to thank everyone who came to see us play and everyone who made the tour possible, especially those who put their faith in IDES OF GEMINI to deliver a night of music that was hopefully worth paying to see. We can’t wait to do it again.”

In related news, check out an exclusive interview with Bennett courtesy of Scion AV below, or also through Earsplit PR.

Constantinople was released stateside via Neurot Recordings late this past Spring and continues to reap praise domestically and abroad. The offering was commended by Outburn in an 8/10 review for its "depressing dynamics topped by ethereal wonderment," and called "...a dirg-y doom crawl of an album..." by Decibel. Pitchfork dubbed it, "darkly beautiful," while MetalSucks added, "Their accretion of small musical gestures inverts metal’s normal use of space. They imply terror without ever exposing it. Each song is an accumulation of outlines, a sort of sonic daguerreotype."

AMENRA Share First Track and Lyrics from Upcoming MASS V

AMENRA are preparing for the worldwide disbursement of their newest studio full-length Mass V on 26 November via Neurot Recordings and today they share first track from it, the album opener,"Dearborn and Buried" - our first listen to a complete song from the album, and our first glimpse at the lyrics...

one day I awoke
and I saw
the world. that comes from us

dearborn. I will remain. world.
and death comes from my ashes.

we were called upon
and awaited a sign
there was a fire divine

remember us
and you will remain
we all fell
and overcame

bereaved
this is our soil
remember it
and it will remain
dearborn
when ashes reign
remember us
we were the flame

now when will I be wounded enough?

We are also proud to share the cover art of the LP version of the album HERE (Photo credit Stefaan Temmerman) which will differ from the CD version, containing different artwork, additional sounds and alternative mixes, by Billy Anderson and mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate, Scorn, working with SUNN0))), Earth, Isis and more...). This album version is available as pre-order from 12 November on www.soulslayer.net, where you can also pick up a copy of their DVD Mass III.

Since their 1999 inception, AMENRA have infiltrated underground music communities with their grand style of organic sludge/doom metal through a plethora of LPs, EPs, and splits with Hessian, TBHR, Oathbreaker and others, through a variety of independent labels including Anvil Of Fury, Sound Devastation, Hypertension and their own Church of Ra imprint. Intense touring and festival appearances across Europe and beyond helped these diverse recordings transform into the live setting, captivating visual effects always an imperative element of the band’s on-stage dominance.

Neurot announced AMENRA’s induction into their clan in July of 2011, which was followed directly by the band’s second European tour in support of the mighty Neurosis, the bond between both parties strengthening. Last November the members of AMENRA wandered through the countries neighboring Belgium in search of the perfect inspiration for their next studio opus. The journey led them to the village of Wissant in North France, where upon discovering vast lands still decimated by and littered with carnage from World War II battles invoked the proper stimulation the band needed to create Mass V.

In May the band entered the expansive La Chapelle Studio to create Mass V, assisted by engineer Billy Anderson (Eyehategod, Neurosis, Melvins, Sleep, Swans, etc.) to bring their sonic attack to its most crushing. With possibly their most inspired material to date in hand, brandishing forty minutes of material through four movements, they utilized the photography of Stefaan Temmerman and the talents of Webecameaware for the layout, AMENRA completed their vision and are preparing for the world to hear this sonic tour de force.
