KOWLOON WALLED CITY Joins Neurot Recordings for the Release of their Third Studio Album

Neurot Recordings is very pleased to welcome San Francisco-based sludge/noise rock unit KOWLOON WALLED CITY to their family for the CD release of the band’s as-yet-untitled third full-length, expected this fall, with Gilead Media handling the release on vinyl.

Comments Neurot’s Steve Von Till, “KOWLOON WALLED CITY is a hardworking, no-nonsense group of people, who deliver no-nonsense, in-your-face aggressive music. We couldn't be happier.”

Adds the band, "It goes without saying but we're all honored and excited about this. Literally every interaction we've had with the Neurosis camp has been great - they are super solid people who 100% get it. The same goes for Gilead Media. All right, back to work."

Named after a now-demolished Hong Kong region notorious for its brothels, opium dens and casinos, KOWLOON WALLED CITY was formed in 2007 and have since released an EP, two full-lengths and a number of splits. Their most recent long player – 2013’s Container Ships, released via Brutal Panda Records – reaped the praise of fans and critics both stateside and abroad with Lambgoat dubbing it “their most impressive release to date” and the The Sludgelord commending the band’s “hard-hitting brilliance,” placing it among the year’s best offerings. As AllMusic says, “KOWLOON WALLED CITY take the sound pioneered by bands like the Jesus Lizard and Unsane and push it into new dimensions of heaviness."

Further KOWLOON WALLED CITY news will be announced in the weeks to come. In the meantime, sample the band’s previous releases at their official Bandcamp page at THIS LOCATION.

STEVE VON TILL: A Life Unto Itself Vinyl, CD & T- Shirt Preorder Bundles Now Available!

Preorders for Steve Von Till's A Life Unto Itself, Available now from Neurot Recordings

STEVE VON TILL’s most immense, celestial solo journey yet, A Life Unto Itself was captured at Avast! Recording Co. in Seattle with producer Randall Dunn (Earth, Sunn O))), Wolves In The Throne Room,Marissa Nadler and Rose Windows), presenting over forty-five minutes of harrowing textures which drill their way immediately to the core of your bones, gnaw your heart’s defense mechanisms to their foundations, and invoke a wellspring of emotions. In bringing these newest visions to fruition, STEVE VON TILL was joined by viola master Eyvind Kang, pedal steel wizard J. Kardong and percussionist Pat Schowe, and enshrouded by cover art by Aaron Turner (Sumac, Isis, Old Man Gloom, Hydra Head), A Life Unto Itself conjures the man’s most diverse but wholly composed solo creations yet, recalling Harvestman and prior unaccompanied albums under his own name. A possible new bearing on navigating life seems to lie at the heart of A Life Unto Itself, but that decision is ultimately up to the listener.

A Life Unto Itself ventures into compelling uncharted territory for its maker. STEVE VON TILL's weathered, distinctive voice and sparse acoustic guitar provides a foundation, but a much wider variety of sonic textures are presented here. Bold and ambitious arrangements weave vintage synth, sublime strings, percussion, and electric guitars throughout these unique and expansive songs, as VON TILL's raspy whisper dives deeply inward, and speaks genuinely of visions, memories, and self-reflection in a way that feels both seasoned and exposed.

STEVE VON TILL's "In Your Wings" is streaming here at Neurot Recordings:

The title track from STEVE VON TILL'S A Life Unto Itself is still streaming HERE, also.

A Life Unto Itself will be available May 12th in the US (11th May UK/EU and 8th May in Germany). Preorder now at store.neurotrecordings.com

STEVE VON TILL: New Noise Magazine Debuts “In Your Wings” As A Life Unto Itself Solo LP By Neurosis Guitarist/Vocalist Nears Release

As Neurosis voyager and solo artist, STEVE VON TILL, prepares to release his new A Life Unto Itself LP through Neurosis’ Neurot Recordings this May, he now presents the gripping  album opener, “In Your Wings.”

The gritty hymn, “In Your Wings,” sees its public debut courtesy of New Noise Magazine, who recently interrogated the multi-instrumentalist on his boldest solo outing yet, the upcoming feature issuing in part, “There are few men in the world who possess a voice so powerful that it instantly sends tidal waves of soul-crushing emotion to the very fiber of your being. As vocalist and guitarist of sludge doom icons Neurosis, STEVE VON TILL’s tortured, colossal howl comes across with the subtlety of a nuclear bomb... VON TILL’s raspy, world-weary timbre holds dominion on his solo projects. He is accompanied primarily by acoustic guitar on his upcoming fourth release A Life Unto Itself, another stunning juxtaposition of beautiful, non-traditional folk music against his powerfully profound delivery.”

Preorders for A Life Unto Itself on CD, LP and digital formats, including merch bundles, will be available next week via Neurot Recordings.

IDES OF GEMINI Forced To Cancel Remaining Dates With The Mountain Goats

Due to a serious medical injury sustained by drummer Kelly Johnston-Gibson, Los Angeles' sound enigmas, IDES OF GEMINI, who were in the midst of a trek with acclaimed indie rock unit, the Mountain Goats, regret to announce their withdrawal from the tour as well as the cancellation of their scheduled post tour headlining shows. The announcement follows the cancellation of their New York City shows this past weekend.

In an official statement from the band: "It is with great sadness that we will have to drop off the Mountain Goats tour. Kelly, our drummer, has suffered a herniated disc in her spine and cannot continue. The Mountain Goats and their crew have been super cool to us and we're honored to have played with them. With some rest and healing, we plan to be in top form for our Summer tour dates."

IDES OF GEMINI features Johnston-Gibson, guitarist J. Bennett, and singer/bassist Sera Timms, also of dark-psych outfit, Black Mare. The trio released their critically-hailed, Chris Rakestraw (Danzig)-produced Old World New Wave full-length last September via Neurot Recordings and will unleash a special, limited edition Cathage/Strange Fruit seven-inch via Magic Bullet Records on April 18th, 2015 in honor of Record Store Day. The seven-inch is currently available for preorder on limited black and clear wax at THIS LOCATION. Desirers of the digitals can visit Magic Bullet's BandCamp page HERE or iTunes HERE.

Old World New Wave is out NOW on CD and digitally via Neurot Recordings and on vinyl via SIGE Records. For CD orders, point your browser HERE and for T-shirt bundles, point your browser to THIS LOCATION.
