IDES OF GEMINI 2012:
7/19/2012 El Cid – Los Angeles, CA
8/30/2012 Bombay Bar & Grill – Ventura, CA
9/03/2012 The Echo – Los Angeles, CA w/ Old Man Gloom
9/04/2012 Soda Bar – San Diego, CA w/ Old Man Gloom

Commended by Outburn in an 8/10 review for its “depressing dynamics topped by ethereal wonderment,” Constantinople was released stateside via Neurot Recordings late this Spring and continues to reap critical accolades from fans and critics alike. A collusion of musical forces precipitated by the haunting and inimitable vocal prowess of singer/bassist Sera Timms (Black Math Horseman), IDES OF GEMINI paint dark black tapestries of sound that are at once delicate and menacing.

“…a dirg-y doom crawl of an album…” – Decibel

“Processional doom, ethereal female harmonies and high-strung riffs incite head-bowing, not -banging.” – Spin

“IDES OF GEMINI perceptively balance subtlety with dexterity, appreciating that music with this much emotive potential requires poise and sagacity. “ – Hellbound

“…darkly beautiful…” – Pitchfork

“…haunting and intriguing…” – The 1st Five

“…a proverbial treasure chest in terms of atmosphere, ideas and contrasting musical textures…original and breathtaking.” – About.com

“Their accretion of small musical gestures inverts metal’s normal use of space. They imply terror without ever exposing it. Each song is an accumulation of outlines, a sort of sonic daguerreotype.” – MetalSucks

“…music that calls to mind deserts and tundras, angry ghosts emerging from the ether.” – RVA Mag

“Whereas Black Math Horseman makes you feel as if you’ve taken a wrong turn into a desolate medieval village, illuminated by the flicker of mere lanterns, IDES OF GEMINIhovers above complete darkness in a realm that can only be felt by those who welcome it.” – This Is Not A Scene

SCOTT KELLY AND THE ROAD HOME Album To See North American Release Via Neurot

Founding Neurosis guitarist/vocalist SCOTT KELLY is preparing to release his new solo album in North America via Neurot Records on August 14th.

The past two years have seen SCOTT KELLY touring across three continents, besides recording for and releasing a split 7″ with Wino and the most recent Songs of Townes Van Zandt tribute album with Wino and fellow Neurosis mate Steve Von Till. The highly anticipated new full-length sees KELLY once again digging deep into very personal territories as on his previous solo works including his lauded Spirit Bound Flesh and The Wake, yet forges a brand new path as fellow musicians Noah Landis (Neurosis) and Greg Dale join this new venture as SCOTT KELLY AND THE ROAD HOME. Jason Roeder (Neurosis, Sleep) and Josh Graham (A Storm Of Light, Neurosis) make guest appearances on the album’s seventh track “The Field That Surrounds Me” and the cover art for the album was completed by Thomas Hooper.

The eight tracks found on the new opus, entitled The Forgiven Ghost In Me, was recorded by Landis, and runs deep with over forty minutes of foreboding Americana over eight new anthems, showcasing the ever-evolving artist brandishing some of his most expressive hymns of pain, reflection and redemption to date. Stated SCOTT KELLY on the album: “This record continues my passion for acoustic experimentation, this time with a more fleshed out sound and a more diverse use of musicians and instrumentation. But in the end, as I have stated before, this is all about the songs in their rawest form. The stories that they reveal and the emotions that run rampant through my heart.”

North American preorders for The Forgiven Ghost In Me can be placed now through the NR Store, here. Stay tuned for new SCOTT KELLY tour dates and more info on the forthcoming album in the weeks ahead.

The Forgiven Ghost In Me Track Listing: 1. A Spirit Redeemed To The Sun
2. The Forgiven Ghost In Me
3. In The Waking Hours
4. Within It Blood
5. We Let The Hell Come
6. The Sun Is Dreaming In The Soul
7. The Field That Surrounds Me
8. We Burn Through The Night

UFOMAMMUT Release Video From Second Installment Of The ORO Albums

Five months after the release of their acclaimed ORO: Opus Primum release, Italian sorcerers of supernatural and obliterating doom, UFOMAMMUT, prepare to return with the second part of the ORO series, Opus Alter. The new full-length will see North American release on September 18th, 2012 once again via Neurot Recordings.

As with all previous UFOMAMMUT albums, the concepts behind ORO are expansive and multi-faceted, mutating the Italian palindrome which translates to “gold” with the Latin translation of “I prey.” ORO explores the concept of knowledge and its power; the magical stream controlled by the human mind to gain control of every single particle of the world surrounding us. ORO is the alchemical process to transform the human fears into pure essence; into gold. Although ORO’s two chapters are being released months apart from each other, they must be considered as a single track in which the musical themes and the sounds appear and reappear, mutate and evolve, progressively culminating in the crushing final movement. ORO is an alchemic laboratory in which substances are flowing, dividing and blending themselves in ten increments from the alembics and stills, culminating into the creation of gold.

Opus Alter will fulfill and widen the perspective of the new work of UFOMAMMUT. Starting where Opus Primum ended, Opus Alter evolves deeper into devastatingly powerful new territory, where chaos is metamorphosed by cacophonous sound, until the final notes resonate, knowledge is forged and UFOMAMMUT strike gold.

UFOMAMMUT have unleashed a new audio/visual depiction of “Oroborus,” the opening track to Opus Alter and the first of five videos to be released, as a new video for each thunderous track on the album will be released over the coming weeks.

UFOMAMMUT’s latest rash of tour dates begin this week with more booked straight through the beginning of Autumn. Stay tuned for more updates on Opus Alter as well as more tour dates to be announced over the boiling Summer months ahead.
