NEUROSIS To Perform Exclusive East Coast Show At NecronomiCon In Providence This Weekend

Fresh off their recent two-pronged European tour, NEUROSIS will congregate at a one-off performance in Providence, Rhode Island this Saturday, August 24th.

This special ceremony has been arranged as part of the city-wide NecronomiCon -- a four-day convention exploring the works of H.P. Lovecraft and other past and present writers as an exploration of the intersection of science and art that lays at the foundation of the "Cthulhu Mythos" genre. NEUROSIS will take the stage at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel to perform a massive set as part of the festivities, with support from avant/crushing solo act LUSTMORD. The early show open with the 45-minute silent film, "The Call of Cthulhu," about the Strand Theater -- now Lupo's -- and how it was Lovecraft's favorite movie theater to attend.

NEUROSIS at NecronomiCon:
8/24/2013 Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel - Providence, RI w/ Lustmord [5pm doors]

Since 1985 NEUROSIS surpassed the boundaries of any genre, never ceasing to mutate and progress their songwriting and sonic delivery, and never failing to mesmerize audiences both in the studio and onstage. In 2012 the unit released their monumental tenth studio album, Honor Found In Decay, which went on to receive countless plaudits from the press on a global scale, and was positioned highly in end of year polls, as always reaffirming why NEUROSIS remains one of the most significant heavy acts in existence.

Witness an array of live footage collected over the ongoing tour cycle for Honor Found In Decay HERE.

"Those who prefer their epics harrowing, their atmospheres apocalyptic and their metaphorical gut punches landed squarely on the emotional solar plexus will not be disappointed." - Decibel

"For 27 years, the members of Neurosis have demonstrated what metal can be and what it can aspire to: transcendent, cathartic, graceful, innovative." - National Public Radio

"...officially upped the ante for all the post-metal bands who ought to be paying these guys royalties for their patent on psychedelic purgation..." - Spin

"Another spiritual journey into the very heart of mankind. Completely and utterly mind-blowing." - Metal Hammer

"The most stunning aspects of Honor Found In Decay come from Neurosis' grasp of dynamics...as ever, in the hands of these uncompromising sorcerers, true heaviness can be as much about the directness as disorientation, and as much about the sinister rumble as an unearthly roar. 5/5" - Terrorizer

"...doesn't abandon the moody sprawl of the band's last few full-lengths, but it does help restore urgency to an aesthetic that seemed in danger of growing soporific... It's a record that proves these grizzled artisans still know how to flex their muscles." - Pitchfork

IRON TONGUE: The Dogs Have Barked, The Birds Have Flown Out NOW On Neurot Recordings

IRON TONGUE's Neurot Recordings debut, The Dogs Have Barked, The Birds Have Flown saw worldwide release last week!

The Arkansas troupe fronted by Chris “CT” Terry (founding frontman of sludge legion Rwake) also comprises veteran musicians Jason Tedford and Mark Chiaro on guitars, bassist Andy Warr, drummer Stan James, keyboardist JR Top and backing vocalist Stephanie Smittle. Musically the album traverses between groove-laden soul to heavy-amped stomping Southern Rock - underpinned by a dark inner core all of which makes The Dogs Have Barked, The Birds Have Flown a compelling listen from start to end. Terrorizer notes, “With songs as well-crafted as this, they more than earn a pass for leaning hard on tradition. Better still when they deign to rock out like some doom besotted product of the ‘90s, as on closer 'Said N Done,' they lay down the big riffs in grand window rattling style," while Heavy Blog Is Heavy gushes, “With its heart in blues and its soul in metal, this cathartic crusher, hammered out by a mélange of Arkansas veteran musicians, pays due deference to its forbears. Initially, the music bears a strong resemblance to the recent batch of Townes Van Zandt covers, perpetrated by doom Illuminati Steve Von Till, Wino and Scott Kelly. Brief bursts of it emerge as IRON TONGUE roughly feed their country affectations and hefty, blues-tinged rock through the chomping maw of old school doom metal in much the same manner. However, there is no getting away from where much of this album’s running time is spent; playing between the twin forces of St. Vitus and The Allman Brothers Band.” This Is Not A Scene says The Dogs Have Barked, The Birds Have Flown is “more than what the tags of Southern rock or doom suggest. There is a dark soul here and each song is played with sense of emotion and feeling than many bands that fall under those simplistic tags fail to muster.” Adds New Noise Magazine in a 4.5/5 rating: “It’s refreshing to hear a band try to mix classic rock and doom metal and not actually rip off Black Sabbath or anyone else for that matter, something that makes this band even more worth listening to.”

Iron Tongue Unleash New Track, "Lioness," via Classic Rock

Arkansas southern rock rabble-rousers IRON TONGUE have unleashed another soulful jam from their forthcoming album,The Dogs Have Barked, The Birds Have Flown which is set for release via Neurot Recordings on May 27th in UK/EU and May 28th in the US.

The track "Lioness" is one of the standout's on the record. It draws you in from the opening heavy and groove-laden bassline of Andy Warr and Stephanie Smittle's alluring backing vocals, before heavy-amped guitars and Chris Terry's rugged and powerful vocals come forth and the track explodes into an almighty rollicking rock jam.

Classic Rock are hosting "Lioness" on their website today, check it out here.

Don't forget you can also listen to '7 Days' via The Obelisk, here.

Fronted by Chris “CT” Terry, the founding frontman of sludge legion Rwake, IRON TONGUE formed when a group of veteran players with diverse musical backgrounds found a common interest in the need to get down and dirty and way, way gone. Featuring CT alongside guitarists Jason Tedford and Mark Chiaro, bassist Andy Warr, drummer Stan James, keyboardist JR Top and backing vocalist Stephanie Smittle, IRON TONGUE offer up a thick, soulful blend of girthy, heavy-amped, blues-based rock. IRON TONGUE aren't singing of magical moonlit escapades. These are songs of true hurt, regret and despair reminiscent of everything from the proto-metal stomp of Blue Cheer and Grand Funk to the darkest hours of Kiss, Deep Purple, Buddy Guy and ‘Skynyrd.

The Dogs Have Barked, The Birds Have Flown is produced by renowned audio sage Billy Anderson (Melvins, Sleep, Neurosis, etc) at IRON TONGUE guitarist Jason Tedford’s Wolfman Studios.

Comments The Obelisk: “…the album…makes no bones about establishing its own context and working on its own merits in establishing an atmosphere and constructing a genuine sonic breadth out of slow riffs, organic production, Southern woes and heaviness that goes beyond the tonal. As a piece of the whole, I think ‘7 Days’ represents these aspects well.

Adds Stan James of the number: “‘7 Days’ is one of the first songs we wrote when we started… It’s one of our favorites and we’re glad to give everybody a sample of the album before it comes out. We’ll have another up for everybody soon!”

Hear “7 Days” at THIS LOCATION NOW.

In related news, IRON TONGUE will bring the power of the riff to the stage with a handful of local shows beginning April 26 with additional dates to be announce in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

Churning a soulful blend of girthy, heavily amped, blues-based rock, IRON TONGUE aren’t singing of magical moonlit escapades. A split 7” with The Dirty Streets, featuring a ballsy version of KISS’s “Two Timer” served as a precursor to the creation their debut full-length for Neurot.
