UFOMAMMUT Complete Two-Part Neurot Recordings Debut

UFOMAMMUT, Northern Italy’s sorcerers of supernatural and obliterating doom, have completed the recordings for their sixth full-length, and first as part of the Neurot Recordings family. This week we are beyond excited to announce the details of this highly anticipated, mammoth follow-up to their 2010 full-length Eve, the band’s most critically-acclaimed and devastating piece of magic to date… until now.

Oro is the title for UFOMAMMUT’s latest work, divided into ten massive movements overall which is now confirmed to be delivered in two separate pieces during the coming year. The first chapter, Opus Primum, will see arrival in April, and the second, Opus Alter, in September. The vinyl versions of both chapters will be handled directly by UFOMAMMUT’s own label Supernatural Cat Records, who were responsible for the release of all of the band’s previous material. This is the third album in a row the band recorded with Lorenzo Stecconi.

As with all previous UFOMAMMUT albums, the concepts behind Oro are expansive and multi-faceted, mutating the Italian palindrome which translates to “gold” with the Latin translation of “I prey.” Oro explores the concept of knowledge and its power; the magical stream controlled by the human mind to gain control of every single particle of the World surrounding us. Oro is the alchemical process to transform the human fears into pure essence; into Gold. Although Oro’s two chapters will be released months apart from each other, they must be considered as a single track in which the musical themes and the sounds show up and hide, mutating and evolving, progressively and increasingly stratifying culminating in the crushing final movement. Oro is like an alchemic laboratory in which substances are flowing, dividing and blending themselves in ten increments from the alembics and stills, culminating into the creation of Gold. The band are also in the process of crafting a full video/visual version of Oro which will accompany the audio.

Since their inception in 1999, UFOMAMMUT has toured several times, and crossed the oceans to the United States for the first time in 2009 for a tour of the West Coast. They’ve performed at renowned, international music festivals including Roadburn, Hellfest, Ieper, Stoned from the Underground, Asymmetry, sharing the stage with Neurosis, Down, Amen Ra, Baroness, Sons Of Otis, Motorpsycho and endless more along the way. The band’s live show is supported by the internationally acclaimed video and graphic art of Malleus, a rock artists’ collective who conjure the entirety of UFOMAMMUT’s visual impact.

2012 will see the band expanding their touring circles wider across the face of the planet in support of Oro. Stay tuned throughout the year as more details on the release and the act’s tour schedule are confirmed.

UFOMAMMUT is:
Poia – guitars and effect
Urlo – bass, vocals and synths
Vita – drums
Ciccio – soundlord
Lu – visuals

IDES OF GEMINI sign with Neurot Recordings; make Bay Area debut at Blood, Sweat + Vinyl Music & Film Festival on Oct 15th

Sera Timms’ voice is a national treasure. It’s a reverb-soaked choir of 4AD ghosts floating over scratchy guitars. Burzum scoring a spaghetti western. This stuff gives me chills.
—Cosmo Lee of Decibel magazine on IDES OF GEMINI

IDES OF GEMINI is a collusion of musical forces precipitated by the haunting and inimitable vocal prowess of singer/bassist Sera Timms, also of Los Angeles dark-psych alchemists BLACK MATH HORSEMAN. The compositions are the long-simmering mental fallout of veteran music and film journalist J. Bennett (guitar/backing vocals), who has spent most of the last 13 years writing for such publications as Decibel, Terrorizer, Revolver, Alternative Press and Thrasher. The third and final corner of the triangle is Kelly Johnston, whose martial drumming techniques and soaring backing vocals literally brought IDES OF GEMINI to life as a performing entity.

Last year, Timms and Bennett recorded and self-released IDES OF GEMINI’s four-song EP, The Disruption Writ, which was anointed "My Favorite Demo of 2010" by the highly influential music blog Invisible Oranges. Lyrically, the songs detailed the terrifying permanence of dismemberment in all its unsettling forms: psychological, emotional and physical.  Musically, though?  Someone on the Internet called it "dream doom." Nobody likes to be pigeonholed, but IDES OF GEMINI will gladly take up temporary residence in that particular nook for the sake of shorthand. Which is to say that "dream doom" will do the trick for now. And now is nothing if not fleeting. Mostly because IDES OF GEMINI are about to record their full-length debut, set for release via Neurot in the Spring of 2012.

"It’s all about that moment—that moment when a piece of music comes seemingly from nowhere and is exactly what you were looking for, but you didn’t know it," says Neurot boss and NEUROSIS guitarist/vocalist Steve Von Till. "I remember the moment when Ides of Gemini warped my brain. I received an email from Scott Kelly in May. The subject heading was simply, ‘J. Bennett’s band is killer!’ and had a link. I had known J. for a while as a stalwart supporter of all that is good and heavy out there, but I had no idea he made music. I clicked the link and was completely hypnotized for the duration of the demo. As soon as it ended and I realized I had been completely captivated, I replied to Scott’s email: ‘Totally fucking killer.’ Then I immediately emailed J. and told him how awesome I thought it was. A few conversations later, and we were working together.  It was beautiful and meant to be. Ides of Gemini is amazing!"

"We’re not religious people, but getting the nod from Steve Von Till and Scott Kelly is like getting onstage only to find Moses and John The Baptist in the front row, wearing your band’s t-shirts," Bennett enthuses. "And we don’t even have shirts yet, which makes it all the more incredible. The point, though, is this: The impact NEUROSIS has had on our psyches over the years is immeasurable. ‘Honored’ doesn’t quite cover it. But before anyone gets too excited, I should also probably mention that we sound nothing like NEUROSIS."

IDES OF GEMINI will make their Northern California debut at the Oakland Metropolitan Operahouse on October 15th as part of the Blood, Sweat + Vinyl Music & Film Festival alongside Bay Area greats OXBOW and EVANGELISTA. The night will also mark the DVD release of filmmaker Kenneth Thomas’ new documentary, Blood, Sweat & Vinyl: DIY in the 21st Century, which highlights the music and inner workings of three of the finest independent labels currently in operation: Hydra Head, Constellation, and—you guessed it—Neurot.

This Just In: 2/3 of IDES OF GEMINI—Sera Timms & J. Bennett—will also be performing a rare cover song on Oct. 20th as a part of Murder Ballads, an annual event sponsored by the L.A. Record and held at the Echoplex in Los Angeles, featuring artists reinterpreting homicidal folk songs of old.

NEUROSIS: Classic Sovereign EP To See Official Neurot Recordings Reissue Including Previously Unreleased Bonus Track

NOW AVAILABLE - CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO

For the last 26 years, NEUROSIS have tapped into the elusive wellspring where resonance and dissonance collude, circling emotional poles where nothing is withheld, where the psyche screams for answers to Earth’s ancient mysteries
Following the recent reissues of some of NEUROSIS‘ most seminal groundbreaking earlier albums — Souls At Zero and Enemy Of The Sun — Neurot Recordings are now prepared to unveil the details on the next installment of this reissue series, with a new pressing of the band’s infamous Sovereign EP. Originally unveiled in 2000, the Sovereign EP was the first NEUROSIS release issued through the band’s own then newly-founded Neurot Recordings, with the vinyl pressing handled by Hydra Head. In chronological terms, Sovereign served as a millennial segue between two of the band’s two revered full-lengths of that era; 1999’s Times Of Grace and 2001’s A Sun That Never Sets
The EP, though shorter than a NEUROSIS full-length opus, is a psychotropic experience of the highest order. And to top that off, this Neurot Recordings CD reissue also includes a previously unreleased fifth track, with the inescapably feedback-tormented hymn “Misgiven” closing out the reissue, added as a special bonus to this repressing of the recordings. The reissue comes bound in an O-Card/jewel case setup like the other recent NEUROSIS reissues, with artwork completely redesigned and updated by Aaron Turner.
Sovereign Reissue Track Listing:
1. Prayer
2. An Offering
3. Flood
4. Sovereign
5. Misgiven* [newly released track]
The reissue of Sovereign will be released in North America in September 2011. Stay tuned for more updates on the reissue and on NEUROSIS actions as a whole throughout 2012, as the band plots more live appearances for the coming months, and as they continue to culminate their energies into the band’s upcoming new full-length release.

UFOMAMMUT: Supernatural Italian Doom Unit Sign With Neurot Recordings

It comes with absolute honor to finally announce the meeting of marvelous minds, as Italian masters of thunderous psychedelic doom UFOMAMMUT sign to Neurot Recordings for their next album. Their last album, Eve, was met with great critical acclaim worldwide, and judging by the studio updates we are receiving, their next opus will be even more epic in its proportions and probably their heaviest and most cacophonous record to date.

This is what Neurot owner Steve Von Till had to say about the signing: "Welcome UFOMAMMUT to the Neurot family. UFOMAMMUT is our kind of band. These sonic brothers from Italy are heavy, psychedelic, and driven. We couldn't be happier than to have them working with Neurot Recordings for their next full-length album. Though we have been fans of their music for a while, being able to meet them and share the stage with them on our recent trip to Europe was awesome. We formed a great and meaningful bond, which of course is the most important aspect of what we do. We admire their prolific nature as visionary musicians, as members of the Malleus art collective, and as owners of their own label, Supernatural Cat.  They truly embody the same spirit of music and art that we all strive for. UFOMAMMUT is in the studio at this very moment working on their next epic."

UFOMAMMUT also commented..."Working with Neurot signals an evolutionary change for UFOMAMMUT. In the last years we've built up our own music world, doing everything by ourselves, working on our own art and recordings, creating a label, and taking care of every aspect of our projects.

We feel very excited by this change because this confirms that we did a good job, especially coming from these guys who we have always considered a great inspiration.

We're sure this Neurot and UFOMAMMUT friendship will open new perspectives and directions in our sonic adventure, because we feel we have the same vision and attitude about what music should be. In few words we feel totally honored and proud to become a part of the Neurot Family."

This news really does mark the alliance of almighty talent and we hope that you will follow this story as it unfolds in the coming weeks, more news as and when we can bring it. In the meantime, European fans can catch UFOMAMMUT on tour beginning next week and into October. See the full tour routing at this location.

AMENRA Sign With Neurot Recordings; European Live Dates With Neurosis Approach

It is with great honor for Neurot Recordings to announce the label’s official signing of Belgian sorcerers AMENRA.
A perfect fit to Neurot’s already organically soulful and cerebrally crushing roster, AMENRA’s newly completed fourth full-length album, Mass V, will be released in the coming months, with a confirmed street date and more details to be brought forth shortly.
AMENRA have pulverized audiences abroad since the turn of the 21st century via an arsenal of split and mini-releases, as well as three full-length albums to date. They have proven themselves in the live setting as well, having toured with the likes of Neurosis, Converge, Pelican, Starkweather, Battlefields and countless others, and via notable performances at massive festivals including Roadburn, Eurosonic and more.
Stated AMENRA in a collective statement about signing with Neurot: “Since day one, and for a decade now, we found ourselves in a cold and lonely place. Until our paths crossed with the Neurot family. A warm embrace. We believe now we have found a place we can call our own, and with great pride. We sincerely see this as the opportunity for us to prove to the world that our being here on Earth, In time, will not go unnoticed, but will be well spent. Mass V. We will make it mean something, always and everywhere.”
Neurot Recordings founder and Neurosis guitarist/vocalist Steve Von Till also made an official statement on the label’s choice to bring AMENRA into the Neurot family. “For us in Neurosis and Neurot Recordings life has always been a quest searching for something deeper, something more meaningful, something that moves one to feel something real in a world full of soul killing triviality. AMENRA is deep, and real, and moving, and incredibly inspiring. Their family is dedicated and like minded in a way that we relate to completely. Kindred spirits. Their musical and visual aesthetic is pure and runs through everything they do, their music, their words, their graphics, their visuals, and print media. That unspoken spiritual core that we seek, weaves throughout their being. It is with great honor that we welcome them to our home, and to our label. There are few in our tribe in this world, and we are definitely stronger when we are together. I am eagerly awaiting the sonically induced spirit quest that will be Mass V at the Church of Ra.”
In related news, AMENRA will be supporting Neurosis once again on several live dates in Germany, Austria and France over the coming week, for the first time with the two artists now as official labelmates. Stated the band on the upcoming performances: “Our second tour with Neurosis. A restless heart. An unpredictable force of nature. Neurosis broke down walls and used those stones to build a path that now AMENRA is able to walk. Without them we might not even have existed at all. Who knows. The recognition we get might be more substantial to us than breath, a light that fills the dark chambers of our hearts, until it will be gone. I expect and wish the shows to be out of this vvorld. We will try and guide the sparks, stoking and tending the flames, where Neurosis will set the bonfire alight. And each night, together, we will build that pyre. It will always be a godsgift and honour. for us to share stages with them. And travel with them, in silence. In everything we give thanks.”
NEUROSIS with AMENRA July 2011:
7/17/2011 Grünspan- Hamburg, Germany
7/18/2011 Conne Island – Leipzig, Germany
7/19/2011 Arena – Wien, Austria
7/23/2011 La Machine De Moulin Rouge – Paris, France

Stay tuned for more live updates on AMENRA and the upcoming monolith that shall be Mass V in the weeks ahead.

USX: Appalachian Masters Of Dark Psychedelia To Release The Valley Path This May

Neurot Recordings is proud to unleash the latest full-length from Appalachian masters of dark psychedelia, USX. Titled The Valley Path, the epic follow-up to 2010’s critically-lauded Run Thick In The Night consists of one, near 40-minute mammoth track of esoteric beauty set for release on May 31, 2011.

Commented guitarist/vocalist/wordsmith Nate Hall of the prodigious offering: “When the idea for The Valley Path was imagined, all involved agreed it was true and went forward. Forward in thought, forward in vision, forward in action. We achieved what we wanted to achieve, and whatever is said about The Valley Path, it will stand. USX has played more gigs than I can remember, from Marion to Prague, Detroit, Austria, Memphis and Switzerland. Dirt floors and Masonic temples, churches and ghettos, wilderness and cities. To dozens and hundreds – occasionally thousands. We have recorded our songs, projected our collective visions. We have realized all that we have imagined. At this point, we have nothing to prove. We’ve been under the gun many times, and whatever anyone might think about us, we’ve never flinched. Never compromised. When things are good – and they usually are, being in this band is a dream. But we can’t entirely escape reality. Fuse boxes blow, power fails, instruments break, people leave. We vomit in parking lots and go play inside. We sleep sitting up and wake up sore. Or we sleep in places most people would not willfully enter. We are hungry and miss home. We go on, and we are thankful because we have songs. And when we write our songs become a part of us, our center. Our home. A song does not have to be a part of a collection. It is more important for music to take the path it chooses, and an artist must be willing to let this happen. The Valley Path is one song. And a song is a thing that changes.”

The record was engineered by Travis Kammeyer, mastered by Vince Burke and features the fittingly striking cover art by Adam Pernell Deal.

As a precursor to the release of The Valley Path, USX will be performing several one off shows, including three full acoustic performances in North and South Carolina. Confirmed dates available through the "TOUR" link above.

“Nate Hall is a plain-faced general calling his troops to a doomed battle, but then jerking awake occasionally to find that it was all a moonshine hallucination.” — Decibel

“At times this is heavy, heavy psych that possesses the power to blow yer mind to little bits, but it’s when the band let their psych out to play with a Laurel Canyon acoustic strum that things really take off. Headphones and a bong are mandatory packing items for this trip.” — Montreal Mirror

“U.S. Christmas provide an album that challenges listeners instead of directly handing them emotions.” — Slug Magazine

“USX weave a psychedelic spell as potent as that by any other mystic. Open your third eye and get that nail ready.” — Sleazegrinder

The sprawling, seven-song album, entitled Sage, is now officially confirmed for North American release on May 17th, 2011. Neurot label owner, Neurosis’ Steve Von Till, exposes a bit of insight on the new album: “Lurking somewhere between unearthed, aged, haunted Americana and the psychedelic sludge scraped from the edges of the cosmos, Across Tundras’ new artifact Sage explores new territory, that while at once, rooted in history, and soaked firmly in the rich soil they cultivate, rises above the arcane to the sound of what will become.”

Across Tundras, Sage Track Listing:

2. Hijo de Desierto
3. Buried Arrows
4. The Book of Truth
5. Tchulu Junction
